My mum taught me how to use the sewing machine when I was 10 years old! The first thing I made was a turquoise mini skirt. Turquoise is still my favorite color.
When I was 24 years I moved to Nigeria and started Liz & Joe with my partner Joe. For 12 years the bright colors, and hand-dyed textiles with bold patterns surrounded me in Nigeria and these influences are still visible in my work.

After that I lived for 12 years half of the year on the Greek island Amorgos where the ever changing colors of the sea and the island inspired me; together with the shapes of waves, mountains, rocks, flowers, they are the basic ingredients of Liz & Joe ideas.

The last 9 years I was a lot in Athens where I love street art as a backdrop for my photos. Thanks to all the anonymous street artists!

Another thing that shapes my work is the fact that I don't want to create a lot of waste with my work, so that's why many designs are made with the size of leftovers in mind: blouses made of long strips, scarves with shorter strips, blouses and scarves with strips of even smaller patchwork.

I hope you like what you see!

If you would prefer a blouse or scarf in different colors , or if you have a different size, please let me know.
